Introduction

Biomarkers are biological indicators for special clinical conditions or states. We aim to collect all the reported biomarkers for eye diseases, and provide a platform for researchers to search, analysis and download these biomarkers information.

We collect 1167 biomarkers and their important biomedicine/experiment information for eye diseases and group them into different categories according to their biological components and clinical applications. Meanwhile, relevant information for the 101 non-biomarkers (things that have been proven cannot be biomarkers) has also been recorded for the first time. Further, we conduct biological functional analysis for these biomarkers and list 1165 biomarker pathways in EBD.

The eye is the window to the human body. Plenty of research has reported that the changes on the eye are valuable biomarkers for other diseases. In this version of our eye biomarker database (EBD), we include 1130 records concerning the eye as a biomarker of human diseases.
